Project Study Team

Illinois Department of Transportation and Federal Railroad Administration

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) acted as joint lead agencies on the Chicago to St. Louis High-Speed Rail Tier 1 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) project. IDOT Bureau of Railroads leads the overall project management for the development and implementation of Chicago to St. Louis High-Speed Rail service.

FRA's purpose is to promulgate and enforce rail safety regulations, administer railroad assistance programs, conduct research and development in support of improved railroad safety and national rail transportation policy, provide for the rehabilitation of Northeast Corridor rail passenger service, and consolidate government support of rail transportation activities.

IDOT and FRA are the ultimate decision makers for this study.

WSP
