Illinoise High-Speed Rail Study Area Map Tier 1 Study » TRT Construction » Illinois received $186.3 million for construction upgrades between Dwight and Joliet.  Construction will include a second mainline track from south of Joliet, the addition of a new passing siding near Braidwood, and upgrades to the entire section to allow for travel up to 110 mph. Illinois received $1.2 billion to bring high-speed passenger rail service to Illinois by 2014. Illinois' signature high-speed rail route received $1.1 billion for corridor improvements between Dwight and St. Louis. The corridor improvements will only take place between Dwight and St. Louis as a result of the 2004 Record of Decision (ROD) that states no action will take place between Dwight and Chicago. view Chicago to Joliet Alternatives View Springfield Alternatives View Alton to St. Louis Alternatives
